Responding to the ever-growing appetite for contemporary African art, we would be remiss to ignore the overwhelming creative works that fill the streets and villages of Ghana. This year our team went to the cultural center in Kumasi to look for anything that captured our attention. We saw several artists and raw talented exhibitions that would have captivated you for hours!  One Ghanaian up and coming artist that we have been following for two years now is Malik Ibrahim. His work is both unique and tangible as he adds elements…literal elements that immediately draws your attention and has you engaged from the onset.

 His painting entitled “Black Beauty” he says is dedicated to all black women. “This painting represents the beauty of black women and promotes body love and acceptance.” The three-dimensional aspect of the painting adds another realistic aspect with a string of waist beads masterfully strung across the curvaceous hips. The painting is immediately transformed as one’s imagination is now met with tangible imagery.
