Oware can be traced back to at least 15,000 years old back to Sumerians of ancient Africa. Oware is an abstract strategy game played worldwide with slight variations as to the layout of the game, number of players and strategy of play. Its origin is uncertain, but it is widely believed to be of Ashanti origin it has always occupied a prominent role in society being regarded as a game of the Kings of Asante & Denkyira.
